Ever since I can remember its been tradition for my family and many other Hawaii residents, to start off the New Year with a big bang.Fireworks is a fun way families celebrate New Years eve in Hawaii. Hawaii being one of the states that allow people to purchase and celebrate New Years with popping fireworks, stirred up a lot of controversies over the years. For the longest of time its always been the question whether they would ban the use of fireworks. Having firewors allowed, caused a few problems. As times change, the use of illegal fireworks has increased last year by 1,606 cases since 2001. The number of injuries also sprung, in 2001 having only 65 number of cases to last year(2009) being 112 cases. Without fireworks on New Years eve, ending the year wouldn't be the same for families. In that case I suggest, they be more strict on the rules when it comes to popping and purchasing fireworks. So instead of banning fireworks fully just have more strict, safer regulations about it and everyone can enjoy celebrating with fireworks fun yet safely.

Hi Raena,
ReplyDeleteYour blog presents a con and a pro on the fireworks issue. It could be improved, however, with better transitions between the con and pro. Right now, it just jumps from the con(dangers of fireworks) to the pro (benefits). There are also problems with mechanics (shift in person, fragments). The title works pretty well, except that it seems to indicate you are against fireworks, rather than the opposite.
