Journal #9 (perks of being a wallflower)
This book really talks about "Coming of Age" because we see the main character, Charlie, transitioned from a boy to a teen. The things he experiences sort of changed his way of thinking and his behavior. In the beginning, he starts off as a "NOBODY", the type of person in school where no one even looks at them. He's a very emotional person. But later on in the book Charlie meets 2 new friends, Patrick and Sam. Charlie had no idea what it felt like to be exposed to the teenage life because he was like a loner, since he met those two it was like Charlie was starting to feel what being a teen was all about, his friends introduced him to. Drugs,Alcohol and sex were some of the things he was introduced to. This book shows a lot of examples of coming of age because in the begining it talks about him being like a good boy or what they call a "good tooshue" and as the book get towards the end it talks about his experience with drugs, alcohol and sexuality. And it shows how charlie experienced his coming of age.
